THEORY SB85 – Passive Soundbar
Speaker systems in one cabinet, the “Soundbar”, replace the left, right and center speakers. There are 3 modifications that match the size of 65″, 75″ and 85″ TV sets.
As a rule, they are placed under the TV. But usually under the soundbar we mean a simple horizontal system.
With Theory Audio Design we are dealing with a powerful, full-featured replacement for traditional speakers.
Even if you are more accustomed to using a screen with a projector, this system will look great with it, too.
You can choose from a stylish black aluminum finish.
Theory Wall Speakers
Keeping in mind an important part of the brand concept, we’ll start our Theory product line presentation with the wall-mounted models. All Theory wall-mounted models-the three sb65, sb75, sb85 soundbars and the versatile sb25 pendant speaker-are available in flat-panel housings that are just 94mm deep. Design and functionality go hand in hand in the Theory speakers. The models look very impressive: smooth curves of the cabinets, made of aluminum, chiseled profiles of the front, where each driver or FI port is placed in its own horn. Acoustically advantageous geometry, stiff and weighty, and in the older models simply heavy, the metal enclosures do not produce resonances that color the sound. Wall-mounted models, including cloth-covered grills, can have black or white finishes. But for soundbars, you can also choose to decorate the end panels: carbon, aluminum, steel, or pewter. Gold-plated acoustic terminals on the back panels are hidden in round wells – as many channels in the speaker as there are wells. The speakers’ universal mounting system is designed to fit on many different types of brackets. And though today the suspension is the only installation option for soundbars, there are reports that the manufacturer is preparing to release table stands.

Theory sb65 soundbar
Theory soundbars have passive structure, the same casing height (236 mm) and integrate three LCR channels with identical driving unit arsenal. Top frequency range is voiced by above mentioned 36-mm compression tweeter, and low frequency band is produced by pair of 127-mm carbon drivers. And each channel of the Theory soundbar is potentially capable of giving 117 dB of sound pressure, and in the trio – 124 dB! The main difference between the soundbars is the width, designed for different screen diagonals. The junior sb65 soundbar has a width of 1448 mm, the middle sb75 has a width of 1676, and its older brother sb85 has grown wide to 1912 mm. However, there is one more difference. The older soundbars use a phase-inverted cabinet design to improve bass output, lowering the boundary of the frequency range to 58 Hz. The junior soundbar was not lucky, there is no space for ports on the front end, therefore its bass is more modest, starting from 75 Hz. However, these indicators will not be decisive because in reality in multichannel sets it is recommended to send frequencies lower than 80 Hz to the subwoofer.
SoundbarTheory sb85.
Represents a passive three-channel model, in its width suitable for TVs and screens 85 inches. The case is divided inside into three independent volumes. The unit consists of six 127-mm carbon cone bass/midrange drivers and three large 36-mm compression tweeter units. The soundbars create an insane sound pressure of up to 124dB with all three channels.

Klipsch RP-440D SB Passive Soundbar
The Klipsch RP-440D SB speaker system is part of the special “designer” series of models, whose attractive design is combined with the first-class sound characteristic of Reference Premier acoustics. This speaker belongs to the type of passive soundbars and is designed for use in systems where you want to get a great sound with minimum components used. Klipsch RP-440D SB can be installed on a special desk stand, made of tempered glass, or hung on the wall – for example, directly under the TV. The body of the speaker is made of high-density ABS and does not resonate even at high sound volume.
Klipsch RP-440D SB consists of three independent speakers in one cabinet, which allows it to simultaneously sound all the front channels in your home theater. At the same time, the passive design of the speaker provides for its connection to an AV receiver, which will provide the necessary sound decoding and processing. Klipsch RP-440D SB can become part of a complete home theater system with a separate rear speaker, or work in surround sound mode, provided by the AV receiver processor.
The central channel in the Klipsch RP-440D SB soundbar is represented by a pair of 3.5″ woofers with Cerametallic cones, and the left and right channels have one such speaker each. In addition, in all three channels 1-inch titanium dome tweeters in the updated branded Tractrix horns are used. The front panel of the Klipsch RP-440D SB can be covered with a protective mesh of acoustically transparent fabric that fits snugly over its curved front panel. In the presence of the grid, the soundbar will be almost invisible in the interior, and in its absence, it can become a stylish element of the interior.
The speaker provides an even soundstage with smooth and natural movement of images on the front. The Klipsch RP-440D SB is highly sensitive and is able to develop significant sound pressure even with low input power. The soundbar is equipped with reliable screw input terminals, the cable routing to which can be done as discreetly as possible.
