It is reported that Samsung is working on a new mini-LED display for its smart TVs, and a new report claims that the South Korean giant is ready to launch a new series of mini-LED smart TVs in the first half of next year.
However, at the moment, the exact launch dates of the devices are not yet known. If previous reports are to be believed, the company plans to sell about two million units of its mini-LED TVs in 2021.
Mini-LED TVs use small LEDs between 100 and 300 micrometers each as backlights. When they are close together and used as a light source, the screen becomes brighter and provides a clearer picture. Such TVs use a QD and mini-LED filter, which puts the new line up a notch above the QLED TVs Samsung already sells.

There is no intermediate level of perfection
Manufacturers of the second echelon actively sell their TVs under the slogan about “pretty good” picture quality for a decent price. In fact, there is no such thing as “good enough” quality.
There is no interdisciplinary approach
At one time it was believed that only plasma could produce “true” black color. Then OLED matrixes, HDR technology and quantum dots appeared. Today’s medium-price segment televisions can display a picture which five years ago was not shown by premium models. Taking advantage of this, many manufacturers believe that it is enough to adhere to this, conditionally unqualified quality, in order to quietly continue selling the technology of the present day.
Samsung believes otherwise. The North Korean company has made a new revolution in the technology of image creation. In this article we will talk about the benefits of Mini LED technology in the new Samsung Neo QLED TV.
Five reasons to buy a TV with Mini LED technology
Contrast and detailing
It is impossible to achieve an ideal image quality and natural colors without a wide range of contrast. The size of the Quantum Mini LED is only 1/40th of the height of a conventional light source. And instead of the lens for light diffusion and the housing, which contains one light source, as in traditional solutions, Quantum Mini LED itself acts as a lens, using a micro flux, which provides the same function.
Control over the well-planned operation of the illumination elements is carried out by a separate Neo Quantum Proccessor. The technology of lighting control, where the processor controls the brightness and dimming of the Quantum Mini LEDs to provide the desired colors, was called Quantum Matrix.
The ability to control in detail the operation of the miniature LEDs allows to achieve a contrasting and more detailed picture than in traditional LED displays.
