Connecting your Nintendo Switch to a TV in 3 Steps
Many people think of the Nintendo Switch as a toy – take it out of your pocket and press the buttons. But that’s not the full potential of the console. You can still play on it from your TV, and the game battles look more spectacular on the big screen.
How to connect the Nintendo Switch to TV: step-by-step instructions
Such a connection allows you to see much more details in your favorite story. After all, when connected to the TV, the picture quality increases to full FullHD (1080P). The default resolution on the Switch is half as much – basic HD (720P), and you can not increase it because it is the maximum quality of the console display.

4K image is not worth waiting for yet. Developers promise this feature in the new Switch Pro. However, its release date is still unknown.
Everything that is required for the connection to the TV is already included in the Nintendo Switch. So the connection will go without any extra costs.
Step 1: preparing the Docking Station
It is not possible to connect the set-top box directly to the TV set, so please follow the recommendations below:
You need to turn the device with the panel facing you. Where there is no logo.
Remove the back part by lifting it with your finger.
Connect the cables (HDMI and charger) into the necessary slots.
Return the back of the dock to its original position.
Step 2: Install the console into the docking station
Now you need to connect the Switch. To do this, remove the Joy-Con controllers from the console and carefully place the Switch in the dock. The screen should be pointed in the direction where the logo is. When the system stands up you will hear a “click”.

The basic Joy Con can be left in place if the user wants to play with the Pro Controller gamepad.
Step 3: Connect the Nintendo Switch to the TV
Next, make the connection to the big screen this way:
HDMI cable should be connected to the monitor. If everything went correctly – the display on the console will turn off.
Start the TV and select “HDMI channel” as a signal. How this is done – depends on the manufacturer and the model. So you should read its instructions.
In a few seconds, the Welcome screen of Nintendo will appear on the TV, then you can select the game.
Connecting the Nintendo Switch to your TV without a docking station: is it possible?
No. There must be a station nearby. All connection paths only go through it. Instead of mounting the Switch in a dock, you use the USB cord as an extender adapter.
The Switch itself is connected to USB-C, which is then plugged into the dock’s USB connector. This in turn connects to the TV via HDMI. This will keep the Switch’s display from getting scratched.
The connection of two devices takes not more than 5 minutes. But the user will get a lot of pleasure for many hours ahead. Have a nice roll!
